Significant success with PSHE Curriculum development and Dreams and Goals

Significant Success

We only started using Jigsaw PSHE after Christmas. We decided that the 'Garden of Hopes and Dreams' would be the perfect opportunity to launch Jigsaw to the parents. This has been no mean feat with 800+ children on roll. However, both staff and children alike worked really hard to produce a wonderful afternoon, showcasing everyone's efforts throughout our launch theme.

Impact of Jigsaw

The children across the school lover their Jigsaw lessons. It has enabled them to work collaboratively in teams with great success, achieving together. As well as this, all the children have been highly motivated to take pride in their work. The children have been proud to show their parents around and talk about their Jigsaw learning.

We have also been able to combine our 'house teams' into the event which allowed each house team to go and look at everyone's work, not just their own. This led to the children praising and complimenting each other for the efforts. The additional impact was the ability to tie this into enterprise too, as year groups raised money by selling their work or by producing an activity that cost to be entered into.

Looking forward

We hope that in the future, Jigsaw will help us to:

  • Ensure our children continue to feel valued and supported
  • Develop and nurture resilient, self-regulating individuals who have a great understanding of their own emotions

Our plan is to continue to embed Jigsaw into school life. We have further RSE Training booked to up-skill the teachers and enable them to teach RSE with increasing confidence.

As the PSHE Leads, we will be delivering a staff meeting for Teaching Assistants; they want to know more about Jigsaw and its philosophy as a result of our inspiring training. We will also be working closely with colleagues to team teach and support in the delivering of Jigsaw.

We look forward to sharing new strategies with parents to enable them to support the emotional well-being of their children.
