Eastbury Primary School

Positive impact on the curriculum, school and pupils.

Significant Success

Having just launched Jigsaw in our School in Spring 1, it has already had such a great impact on our children as well as the staff. All staff have embraced the scheme of work and aspect of Jigsaw is having a positive impact on the children’s behaviour and attitudes, whether it be the lessons, reflection time using the chime, assemblies or the Jigsaw friends. The children love the Jigsaw friends and they are not only used in our classrooms but we also have a set of the friends in our Nurture room and Focus Zone.

This term it has been Dreams and Goals where the children have explored their dreams and set goals but also looked at the steps they need to take to achieve these. The children have decorated and designed their own scrapbooks dedicated to Jigsaw and what a great way to start these with their Dream and Goals.

Reception teacher: “One of my children, Marib 5 years old, told me that she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up and that “learning was her favourite thing in the whole world” She told me that she would “never give up, just keep on trying and trying” This has obviously come from the Jigsaw lessons we have been doing.”

Nursery teacher: “ Would like to say just how much the nursery children love Jenie! They really respond well to the activities and enjoy the songs. At the end of one of the sessions I put the song on and one of the children said, “let’s stand up and hold hands and sing it together!”

Teachers in year upper KS2 have also commented on what a positive impact the jigsaw lessons and circle time is having on their class. They said the children love it and look forward to it
